Some made you laugh, some made you cry (even if you’d never admit it.) But we are forced to recognize greatness when we see it on the silver screen. Speaking from one Sarge to the next, these guys demand respect even if they aren’t ‘the real deal’.

Vote your favorite Hollywood General below or add one that we forgot!

#1 General George S. Patton – “Patton”

“No damn bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor damn bastard die for his country.”

  1. Sorry to disappoint. Your article should have been called the Greatest Captains’ and below of all time. Though, John Wayne did get promoted to a one star Admiral, In Harm’s Way.

Chewbacca and Hans Solo? Weren’t they mercenaries?

    Band of Brothers

#8 Chewbacca – “Star Wars”

  1. General Patton, no contest.
When I was a young Armor officer, I spent many weekends at the museum at Ft. Knox. General Patton has always been an inspiration.

  2. And here I thought you were talking about Generals. Why are there enlisted? Best movie General? Only one to consider – Gregory Peck as MacArthur.

  3. George C. Scott as Patton. No one else is even close. Heck, most of the other candidates aren’t even generals or admirals.
